Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar

So Obama’s aunt lost her immigration case and has remained in the country illegally. He says he didn’t know her immigration status. I believe him. Why would he? John Conyers has a better question: Which “federal law enforcement official” is leaking this immediately before the election? It is, to say the least, suspicious.

I’m not sure what to think. One of the problems is that individual immigration cases are not supposed to be discussed by immigration officials. So if it is in immigration official speaking, then they should be tracked down and fired for violating the basic trust of their office (not to mention the law). And, if it isn’t an immigration official doing the talking, then what “law enforcement official” is speaking? Such information doesn’t just drop from the sky. Someone searched for it, and someone turned it over. That’s a violation of the trust of public office, as well. (And there may or may not be a link to Rupert Murdoch.)

But is the disclosure related to either the White House or McCain campaign? It’s impossible to say until the source of the leak is found. That’s going to take months, if it is ever discovered.

The real question we should be asking is: Is it an issue that should impact the Presidential race?

Well, if there were evidence that Obama had misused his office as Senator to get special treatment for his aunt, then there would be a case for that. But that isn’t the news that’s hitting the wires, is it?

What we know is that her case was decided unfavorably and she should have returned home, but didn’t. This is the year that your nephew is seeking election to the US Senate. Prior to the election he has no juice – he can’t pull any strings, so why turn to him? After the election, you could ask him for help. But once the bell is rung, it can’t be unrung. Once Obama knows that his aunt is here illegally, he is duty bound to either ask her to leave or to try and help her stay. Would you take the chance?

Or would you just stay quiet?

The last time I taught the Constitution, it said that “corruption of blood” was not allowed in this country. Unfortunately, too many people have hearts that are ruled by unconstitutional considerations.

Thanks for the link! I'm glad you noticed that the aunt's asylee rights were violated. Most aren't even bringing it up. If you're interested in taking the internet back from nativism, drop me a line. I hope all is well.
