A Christian Liberal is NOT an oxymoron.

Conservative Democrats – known as the Blue Dogs – stand ready to assume greater control of their party. While you might not get this sort of thing from the lefty blogosphere, where they like to crow that a true liberal will win any electoral contest, the fact is that Democrats are a growing majority because they are growing ideologically larger. The good thing for Obama – and us – is that Obama knows this is true. And he’s been trying to deal with the Blue Dogs already.

This is one of the reasons why I continue to say that Democrats have not created a winning movement – they have a blip on the electoral history where conservatives of various stripes have fallen on each others’ throats in the Republican Party. The economic standing of our modern times should serve as a repudiation of conservative economics, but that argument has not been made strongly and is not taken root widely. If it had, then “share the wealth” and “socialism” would turn people away from McCain by the millions, instead of just the thousands.
