Joe knows ridonkulous!
You gotta love it when a booby trap springs on the booby that sets it. For example:
“You may recognize this famous quote,” WFTV Anchor Barbara West told Biden on Thursday. “From each according to his abilities to each according to his needs, that’s from Karl Marx. How is Senator Obama not being a Marxist if he intends to spread the wealth around?”Biden laughed himself out of the unusually tough interview asking in response, “are you joking? Is this a joke?”
“No,” responds West.
“Is that a real question?” Biden continues.
I know that Karl Marx is often credited with that. But it’s much older. Try St. Luke in The Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 2: 44-5:
And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
If that isn’t good enough, it’s repeated in Chapter 4: 34-5:
Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, and laid them down at the apostles’ feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.
All that aside, there is a vast difference between the Marxist dream of true egalitarianism and the idea of redistributing some of the wealth from the top of the pyramid to the bottom. It’s the difference between Heaven and Earth.
