Capitulation – Trying to Destroy the Obama Presidency

One of the most damaging aspects of the sexual abuse of children – and sex crimes in general – is that the victim all too often assumes responsibility for the crime. All too often, such responsibility is foisted upon them by outside forces. Women who have been raped, for example, are often put on trial for their behavior as a defense for their rapist. I know of one case where a teenage girl was impregnated by her father and told by her mother that she’d have to raise the child because “you have to learn to control yourself and this will teach you responsibility.”

Sickening.

That’s the same reaction I had when someone forwarded me this story from the National Enquirer. Ordinarily, I’d immediately dismiss anything covered by that rag. But it’s being picked up elsewhere, disingenuously saying that they aren’t spreading the story while they spread the story. There are some things to note:

1) There is no report of Barack Obama actually being abused by this person. Even in the case of a serial pedophile, not every single child that crosses their path gets hurt.

2) If anything did happen; it was not Barack Obama’s fault. Nor would he be considered a willing participant in anything that happened. Any such hint is nothing more than blaming the victim for things they could not possibly control.

I think most people will see through such attacks and I don’t suspect anyone will change their vote based on such tripe. But this is a significant move away from trying to win a campaign and trying to destroy the Obama Presidency.

It’s the recipe they followed in attacking the Bill Clinton Presidency. Before he was even in office, they were calling him “Slick Willie” and lining up allegations of sexual misconduct – some of them were even true. The idea was to embroil the President in fighting a rear-guard action against slimy innuendo and even outright accusations. It’s hard to move forward when you’re busy defending something that happened years earlier.

It’s disgusting. And this is being done by people who say they love this country? Piffle and crackers. This is just another battle in the all-out war against people “not like us”. I don’t care how they try to dress it up.

Bill Clinton folded under the sustained stress of such attacks and gave into his inner demons – perhaps he never had them under control anyway. The result was a sex scandal that stretched out for years and limited his ability to lead. As much as it’s the fault of people who put revenge above leadership, it’s also his fault for giving them the ammunition to kill his Administration. I can only hope that Barack Obama doesn’t do the same.
