McCain’s military service disqualifies him
John McCain isn’t shy about bragging on his military record. The problem is, it’s a shoddy record:
The Los Angeles Times interviewed men who served with McCain and located once-confidential 1960s-era accident reports and formerly classified evaluations of his squadrons during the Vietnam War. This examination of his record revealed a pilot who early in his career was cocky, occasionally cavalier and prone to test limits
Not that Wikipedia is the be-all, end-all source of anything, but the entry on McCain’s military career shows that he had only a year command experience. Note:
“Having been rehabilitated, by late 1974, McCain had his flight status reinstated, and in 1976 he became commanding officer of a training squadron stationed in Florida.”
and a bit lower:
“McCain served as the Navy’s liaison to the U.S. Senate beginning in 1977.”
Does it matter? Well, when John McCain rests his case for being President on it, I’d say it matters to him.
