The unbearable irony of life

One of the arguments of libertarianism is that life is rough – you pays your money and you takes your chances. Kent Snyder, campaign manager for Ron Paul‘s bid for POTUS recently died from pneumonia. There is, of course, the tendency to point out that Snyder would be here today if the policies he opposed were in effect. It also has to be balanced with the fact that he remained true to his principles right up to, and including, his death.

Apparently, his libertarian base isn’t so good at giving when it comes to humanitarian causes. Of course, that would be “altruism” and any good libertarian can give you a hundred reasons why it is the worst thing to ever do. Yes, they are toughening up the Snyder family, who are, one guesses, living on easy street now that daddy/husband is dead and not drawing any salary. I’m guessing there was no life insurance, either.
