Ted Kennedy is gonna die!

The big news of the day is that Ted Kennedy has a malignant brain tumor and his advanced age and medical condition is going to hamper treating it. The “unspeakable” result is that Ted Kennedy is looking at his inevitable end being not far from the hospital bed in which he now lies.

I have to say, I’m already sick of all the media blitz on this. It’s news, sure – but the man isn’t dead yet. At this rate, there will be nothing left to say when he does die. I have no problem with people being emotional, but I really didn’t need to see Richard Byrd sobbing on the Senate floor. It added nothing to the story and, quite frankly, I find it embarrassing to watch someone break down like that.

Ted Kennedy has lived a large life. He’s had some of the highest highs possible and he’s been about as low as any person can hope to never go. He has fought for what he believes and he has never been ashamed of it. But he’s just a man. When he dies, the people of Massachusetts will pick someone else and they will begin filling the huge footprints in which they must walk. That’s the way of life. I’m not saying we shouldn’t pause and thank God we aren’t suffering in that manner or wish him well – that’s fine. But it isn’t the end of everything.

Like Forrest Gump, that’s all I have to say about that.
