Equivocating Hillary

What do you make of this?

On the one hand, Hillary Clinton says:

I’d love to carry Texas, but it’s usually not in the electoral calculation for the Democratic nominee. Florida and Michigan are.

And on the other hand:

An ABC interviewer asked her if her comments meant she had come to terms with the possibility of losing, but Clinton replied: “Well, I intend to win, obviously. I’m working very hard. And Ohio and Texas are critical states.”

So which is it? Is Texas important or not?

It should be noted that in the Texas Monthly interview, Clinton also says:

There’s been a lot of talk about what your campaign would do should it get to the convention. Would you commit today to honoring the agreement made earlier not to seat the Michigan and Florida delegations?

Let’s talk about the agreement. The only agreement I entered into was not to campaign in Michigan and Florida. It had nothing to do with not seating the delegates. I think that’s an important distinction.

That, being interpreted means “Hell, no!” Apparently, Texas only matters if it helps her win. Just as Michigan and Florida matter because they help her win. She notes that Florida Senator Bill Nelson sued to try and get Florida’s delegates seated. Where was Mrs. Clinton during that action?

Character matters. Too much to let Mrs. Clinton become President.
