I just don’t understand

Jews of First has a post up about Indian River, Delaware, and it’s a sad story of how a community targeted religious minorities for denigration. I have to say, some of the activities that were offered didn’t strike me as being aimed at doing that, but they surely had that effect. It is [...]

Is being rude an attack?

Consider this opening salvo as part of a discussion:
What is remembered, lives
I did not agree with his politics or his policies. But I cannot agree that this is an occasion for a party. Not in the sense you want it to be.
Let the other side rejoice when someone dies or is injured. I like to [...]

Party Time!

William F. Buckley, Jr has been found dead by his cook. I refuse to act like this is bad news.
It isn’t that I don’t understand that his death is a tragedy for his family. But, hey, I’m sure that someone somewhere mourned for Saddam Hussein, too. At least Buckley didn’t personally kill [...]

Delegate Counts

I updated the delegate counters and the delegate totals are current as of 2/26/08. Of course, things are going to change.
Currently, Barack Obama has 1,360, so he needs 665 more delegates to lock it up. Hillary Clinton has 1,269 - which puts her 91 delegates behind Obama.
Meanwhile, John McCain has 994 [...]

Is it smart strategy to not talk about abortion? Well, the Senate is cutting funding for the Indian Health Service to perform them. The amendment was offered by David Vitter. So he’s hoping it works for him, I guess.
So far, Obama is withstanding attacks from both McCain and Clinton - so who [...]

The missing emails at the White House have been found - at least some of them have. But calm yourself:
McDevitt, who formerly oversaw many of the White House’s computer systems, said he oversaw a wide-ranging study that found e-mail missing for hundreds of days from January 2003 through August 2005. He also told the [...]

Can we define “Christian Left”?

David Kuo has a piece in the Washington Times that’s worth a look, if for no other reason than the lingering suspicion that Mike Huckabee could very well end up, at the end of the 2008 election, as the de facto head of what we generally refer to as the “Religious Right“. Call it [...]

Equivocating Hillary

What do you make of this?
On the one hand, Hillary Clinton says:
I’d love to carry Texas, but it’s usually not in the electoral calculation for the Democratic nominee. Florida and Michigan are.
And on the other hand:
An ABC interviewer asked her if her comments meant she had come to terms with the possibility of losing, [...]

Desperation is never pretty

I’ve watched over the last week or so as Hillary Clinton has attacked Barack Obama for using language in his speech that has been used by others, most notably Deval Patrick. I don’t see any indication that it is actually working, and rightfully so. I’m pretty sure that Obama didn’t tell his speechwriter [...]
