Florida votes, Hillary waffles

In an event where no Democrats were supposed to campaign in Florida, Hillary Clinton proved she is Slicker-than-Willie. While she didn’t “technically” campaign in Florida, she held two fundraisers there and a rally immediately after the polls closed. I can just hear it now, “It all depends on what your definition of ‘campaign’ is…”

Unofficial results gave her 50% of the return, compared to 32% for Barack Obama. John Edwards received 14.5%. And some numbskulls voted for a number of people who already dropped out of the race. Democracy is wasted on the willfully ignorant.

On the Republican side, John McCain is set to edge out Mitt Romney 37% to 32%. Rudy 9ui11iani will place a distant third with about 15% of the vote, followed by Mike Huckabee with around 13%. Of course, Florida is winner-take-all for Republicans, so the only one who didn’t waste time and money down there was McCain. He picks up 57 delegates, which will officially make him the front-runner going into Super-Tuesday.

Mitt Romney should probably call Rudy about now and beg him to stay in. If Rudy drops out, the McCain is the uncontested winner in NY and NJ, if not elsewhere. That’s 153 delegates wrapped up in a neat bow. Both states are statewide, winner-take-all contests. McCain is actually opening a commanding lead in NY and battled Rudy to a standstill in NJ.

So it looks very much like it will be McCain versus —-Hillary or Obama, but get that combo ticket out of your mind right now. These two really don’t like each other now.
