Hillary didn’t step over that line…

Hillary Clinton her hiney still stinging from the first-class spanking administered by Barack Obama in South Carolina, is busy being the first candidate to violate her campaign promises.

Yes, Hillary Rodham Clinton – already taking Gold in the First-to-go-Negative Exercise and the Most-Tangled-Reconstruction-of-an-Opponent’s-Statement low-ball contest – is going for the trifecta. She’s campaigning for Florida. But it isn’t for any substantive reason. It’s for sheer political gain.

You see, Democrats agreed not to run in Michigan and Florida as part of the party chastening those states were to receive for running to the front of the primary calendar. But note what CNN says of why Clinton signed that pledge:

Even candidates like Clinton and Obama who have the money to campaign in Florida and Michigan signed the pledge. These candidates know they dare not insult voters in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Hmmm, so she promised to ignore both Michigan and Florida when she was pandering trying to win Iowa and New Hampshire (looks like New Hampshire bought it). Now that those states are out of the way – and her campaign is floundering – she’s going to pretend like she never said anything about this whole mess. Hope you don’t get whiplash trying to follow that flip-flop.

Here’s the thing. I think it’s stupid for the Democratic Party to cut Florida and Michigan completely out of the process. But it doesn’t matter what I think. What matters is that this is what the Party – which is supposed to be in charge of the primaries – has decided, and the campaigns have already agreed to it, then why all of this mid-stream “I think I like that other pony better.”?

Well, first, Hillary quickly needs to stop the bleeding. Following the South Carolina primary, Obama got “the big mo” – to the tune of $500,000 an hour in fund-raising. Hillary can’t afford to let him have that kind of success untainted going into Super Tuesday. She’s already in trouble for attacking him. What else can she do?

So she is going to claim a victory in Florida where no one campaigned and argue that those delegates should count – and the same is true for Michigan. But look for her to make a bigger stink about Florida because she just barely won over “undeclared” in Michigan.

She’s scared. She’s desperate. She’s proving she can’t be trusted as President.
