RH – (slightly past) Mid-day edition

The right is horrified by the prospect that someone can prove that the President was not 100% forthcoming in leading us into Iraq. For most of us on the left, that “news” simply isn’t worth wasting much breath on. But the purpose of Ridin’ Herd is to figure out what other people are saying – so:

George W. Bush didn’t lie about Iraq- at least that’s what some want to believe. Are we supposed to feel better about him being dumb enough to to be duped into sending our troops to die? There’s a reason some of our staunchest European allies balked. President Bush just didn’t care.

And, of course, some people are willing to ignore reality completely. Perhaps this is the group that has the knee-jerk reaction that our country is “moving in the right direction”. Perhaps not. Perhaps they are just too invested in defending one of the most reactionary and inflamatory Presidents in history to weigh facts objectively.

In the more sane part of the world, the call for permanent tax cuts is being questioned. It seems to be self-evident to me that doing more of what got us here in the first place will not turn the economy around. But then, I’m not a free-marketeer bravely performing my own colono-rectal examination.

Super Tuesday is close enough to talk strategy.
