Romney Talks Tough-Guy Conservative
So Mitt Romney thinks judges should resign if they make mistakes that result in someone’s death. Wonder why he’s never called for the resignation of George W. Bush for his decision to invade Iraq…
Mike Huckabee proves he can spread lies about energy by saying “America has allowed itself to become enslaved to Saudi oil. It’s absurd. It’s embarrassing.” It’s also untrue. We get more oil from Canada and Mexico than we do from Saudi Arabia – so what are we to make of that? Unfortunately, he was trying to make a valid point – that the United States fails to hold Saudi Arabia accountable for its attrocious treatment of women.
Fred Thompson is courting the brain-dead crowd with his two-tiered tax system. “We’ve known for years any time we have lowered taxes and any time we’ve lowered tax rates, we’ve seen growth in the economy,” Thompson said. That’s true, if you neglect the history of the Bush tax cuts in 2001-2002. It also neglects the fact that Bill Clinton’s tax hike also resulted in a growing economy – and for the only time in my lifetime, it also resulted in a budget surplus that reduced our reliance on foreign investors. Under Thompson’s plan, anyone who makes more than $50K would pay the same tax rate as A-Rod – who will make around $305 million in the next ten years. That’s “tax fairness” – and I have a bridge I’d like to sell you.
Meanwhile, Gen. Ricardo Sanchez is backing the latest Democratic proposal to bring troops home. But that doesn’t necessarily get us out of Iraq.
